Pharrell Williams may not yet have had luck finding a buyer for the remarkably stylized glass-clad home in Los Angeles. The house, which Williams purchased from Tyler Perry in 2014, remains on the market at $17 million. But he didn’t let that stubborn fact stand between him and a similarly expressive and grandiose home in South Florida.

This month finds the producer and singer/songwriter in the process of purchasing this very large Caribbean plantation-style house in Coral Cables. According to public records, the house has been on the market for a year and a half, and was priced at $45 million before Williams made an offer on it.

The house dates to 2006. Its gracious living style is emphasized by the wraparound balcony that follows the full perimeter of the second floor. It measures over 17,000 square feet, with nine bedrooms and 12 baths throughout its two floors.

The interiors are designed in the formal island style, with lustrous, satin-finished plank hardwood floors, hardwood supports and trim, and carved hardwood accents. A seemingly endless array of French doors capped with dual transoms and French casement windows suggest airiness, and hurricane shutters provide flourishes that are both pragmatic and historic.

The landscaping is designed to be on the edge of overgrown, an intensely romantic, naturalistic approach that adds to the property’s sense of timelessness. A boathouse, 335’ of water frontage, and an expansive summer kitchen are a few of the other standout details of the 3.35 acres of grounds.
