Pharrell Williams’ Glass-Clad 90210 Architectural on the Market for $17M

In the late summer of 2017, Tyler Perry purchased this glassy contemporary home in Los Angeles for $14.5 million. In February of the following year, the property was back; Perry had heaved the massive, striking house—which, from outside, looks distinctly like a public building—onto the open market with a $17 million ask.

The easy flip didn’t work out quite as planned, but in the end Perry fared quite well, as Pharrell Williams stepped up a few months later with an offer of $15.6 million for the home, and that was good enough for Mr. Perry, who was happy to transfer ownership.

Another two years down the road, and Williams, in turn, has listed the home for sale. He, too, would like to make an exit in the black and he’s asking $16.95 million to get him in the neighborhood.

The neighborhood where the home resides is Mulholland Estates, and it sits on a large lot for such a desirable location. The house, too, is large; at over 17,000 square feet, it towers over its grounds.

The interiors of the ten-bedroom home offer an astonishing sense of scale; the great room’s open staircase, interior water features and landscaping, and skylights present a remarkable feeling of liberation for a residence. Elsewhere, the home manages to bring off cozy atmospherics, with the kitchen’s glossy, warm execution coming off as very inviting.

The interior living spaces are augmented with unusually expansive exterior living spaces. The roof deck alone adds significant square footage. Then there’s the 4.2 acres of grounds, with a tennis court, lawns, walking paths, and ornate landscaping that includes koi ponds, waterfalls, and a pool with grotto.
