Armored road cars are all the rage these days, and German tuner Brabus is getting in on the fun.
Brabus is well-known as a top tuner of Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG vehicles. Their G-Series entries have been especially well-received, and they turned to this particular Mercedes model for this build as well.
Brabus calls the new series Invicto, and the G-Class that inaugurates the series comes in three trim levels: Pure, Luxury, and Mission. All offer standard armored-vehicle protection via a ‘Shelter Cell’ internal section, itself protected from extreme stress with steel and 3D-printed components. Armoring options can offer anything up to explosion resistance.
The Pure trim level is a standard G-Class with armoring. The Luxury trim level includes a custom interior in classic Brabus style. The Mission trim level is the upper tier. It includes a roof rail, intercom, 20” off-road tires, a digital rear monitor, and MOLLE door panels and seats.
All include the structural beefing-up necessary for the additional weight involved in armoring an SUV. Options for all include an escape hatch, an air filter to keep out toxic gases and smoke, and night vision.
