Faraday Future Denies Rumors That Its FF91 Alliance Edition EV Received Only 60 Pre-Orders

Faraday Future has reportedly only received 60 pre-orders for their FF91 Alliance Edition, a limited version of its much-vaunted, game-changing EV. Is the information credible?

Faraday responded to the rumors by stoutly declaring otherwise. In fact, it claimed that the special edition, limited to 300 units, has sold out. With expectations for the startup’s first EV supercar having been drawn out for such a long period of time, rumor and speculation are, naturally, running wild. But 2018 will see the FF91 in showrooms, the company asserts.

The FF91—declared ‘First of the Species’ on the company’s website—is an ambitious product, a $180K EV supercar designed to rewrite EV design and appeal to upscale buyers in the next five years, and establish the company as a major player in high-end car sales generally. The company’s ultimate goal is, of course, to replace the IC supercar not by rendering it obsolete, but by offering an alternative which will render it passé, and unfashionable; in short, to establish itself as a credible force in opposition to competitor Tesla and, like Tesla, to develop its own distinctly individual brand appeal.

A tall order, but the 0-60 in 2.39s FF91 could propel the automaker to the top of the hill. The FF91 has everything going for it: a product of seemingly endless development, consideration, and revision, it appeals as a luxury car, a smart car, a supercar, and an ecologically relevant source of transportation and entertainment.

Allegedly producing both 1,000HP and a 375 mile range—a combination which is a feat of engineering in itself for an electric vehicle—and featuring the most advanced suite of smart-tech features of any EV, the FF91 is a very attractive crossover to those who can afford a sports car that merges upper-echelon automotive performance and 21st century luxury and connectivity with an ecological conscience.

Is the FF91 overhyped vaporware or a serious contender in the world of EVs? We shall soon find out.
