New York-based design studio Apparatus made quite a splash during Milan Design Week 2016. In fact, the company unveiled two new lighting series, Circuit and Tassel, in addition to revealing an extension to the Portal line.

The new items were created with the goal of highlighting shape, material, and movement while maintaining a bold and contemporary aesthetic.

Lamps from the Circuit collection certainly embody that design goal with an emphasis on rhythm and layering, while glowing glass capsules are arranged in stacks to create hanging architectural marvels.

Meanwhile, Tassel lights are more decorative with ornamental elements like crystal pendants and brass rings. Even the light emanated is exaggerated through mold-blown glass cylinders. Additionally, new marble coffee and dining tables wow as extensions to the Portal series with elements of ancient inspiration mixed with contemporary style.

“The circuit series feels very much from the future, with repeating units presented in a matter of fact way that draws on the work of Dan Flavin,” said Creative Director Gabriel Hendifar. “Conversely, in creating the tassel series I wanted to capture the feeling of wonderment I remember feeling as a child when looking at the traditional crystal chandeliers that were hung in our home.”
