Mercedes-AMG recently unveiled its new flagship GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE coupe, which boasts a powerful electric hybrid powertrain producing over 800 horsepower. This new pinnacle of the AMG GT lineup made its debut alongside Formula 1 activities in Shanghai, highlighting the racing pedigree ingrained in its design.

The GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE couples a handcrafted AMG 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor integrated into the rear axle. This hybrid system churns out a combined 805 hp and up to 1,047 lb-ft of torque, rocketing the coupe from 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds. Mercedes claims this is the quickest acceleration of any production AMG model yet.

Motorsport DNA bleeds through the coupe’s mechanicals. Its high-voltage battery utilizes direct cooling technology derived from Mercedes’ Formula 1 hybrid systems, while the overall hybrid operating strategy mimics F1 energy deployment. Active aerodynamics alter the car’s stance to optimize downforce and drag, much like the morphing wings and surfaces on an F1 car.

AMG also equipped the E PERFORMANCE with cutting-edge performance tech like active rear steering, active roll stabilization, carbon ceramic brakes, and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. Adaptive suspension and integrated hydraulics allow for a broad range between comfort and agility. The coupe exudes opulence with Nappa leather upholstery, ambient lighting, and the intuitive MBUX infotainment system.

“From zero to 60 in 2.7 seconds—no AMG series model has ever sprinted that fast before,” said Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Schiebe. “Given these values, it was clear that the world premiere of the new AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE had to take place on the sidelines of a Formula 1 race.”

The 2025 AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE represents a new electrified era for the storied performance brand. Blending motorsport innovation with luxury craftsmanship, this flagship coupe packages groundbreaking speed into an exclusive grand touring form. Expect the E PERFORMANCE to storm dealerships in late 2024, torching the pavement with hybrid power.
