In a notable new collaboration, the venerable Houses of BOVET and Pininfarina have joined forces to create a horological masterpiece that challenges the conventions of skeletonized watchmaking. The APERTO 1, a name derived from the Italian word for “open,” represents a bold new vision for the future of open-worked timepieces.

The innovative watch fuses the traditional art of skeletonization with cutting-edge materials and a futuristic design language. The result is a timepiece that showcases the intricate dance of gears and mechanics, and embodies supreme versatility and contemporary aesthetics.

Pininfarina’s design team, renowned for their work in various fields, from sports cars to architecture, was tasked by BOVET to reimagine the skeleton watch. The brief called for simplicity, transparency, and lightness, all wrapped in a modern and user-friendly package. The designers rose to the challenge, drawing inspiration from their vast repertoire to create a timepiece that exudes elegance, savoir-faire, and functionality.

The APERTO 1’s grade 5 titanium case, with its sand-blasted matte finish, contributes to the watch’s lightweight and comfortable feel on the wrist. The 42mm diameter strikes the perfect balance between presence and wearability. The open-worked dial invites the wearer to explore the intricacies of the high-watchmaking hand-wound manufacture movement, the caliber 15BMPF09-OW, which boasts an impressive 7-day power reserve.

The collaboration between BOVET and Pininfarina, which began in 2010, has yielded several unique timepieces that showcase the mutual vision and expertise of both Houses. The APERTO 1 is the latest testament to this  partnership, pushing the boundaries of open-worked watchmaking and deepening the contemporary aesthetic that defines Pininfarina-designed BOVET timepieces.
