The Audi flagship SUV is the RS Q8. It’s fast, it’s sleek, and it doesn’t leave too much room for improvement. The folks at German-based tuning shop Manhart like a challenge, then, because they’ve come up with a package that turns the SUV into a track-ready performance rig that may be one of the most capable-looking speed-oriented variations on the theme going.

Manhart calls it the RQ 900. One look will tell you that any pretense of off-roading this Q8 is well and truly gone; the suspension has been dropped over an inch. The body package includes a series of carbon fiber components, including the diffuser, spoiler, and side skirts. Inside the cabin, Manhart has come up with a plush quilted leather upholstery scheme.

And, for power? The tuning shop opened up the exhaust, installed larger turbo units, and tweaked the engine and transmission, boosting horsepower to 888, and torque to 796; that’s half again as much horsepower, and a torque improvement of a full third. An unusual degree of improvement.

Which will come at a premium, of course. Ten examples of the model are slated for production, with a $303K base sticker.
