Actor Shia LaBeouf picked up a new home in Pasadena this month. The house is a new one—it was completed just last year—and is packed with period-style details that contrast well with the contemporary layout.

The film star shelled out $5.5 million to be the property’s first owner. Not a bad price for a carefully constructed house with an unusually fine aesthetic, especially when one considers that it entered the market at $6.2 million in December of last year.

The home’s exterior is heavily influenced by villa architecture of Tuscany. A low slope, hipped, tiled roof, a portico flourish above the recessed entry, and a mix of arched and rectangular windows help define it, along with stucco walls and an elevated terrace serviced by a single staircase.

The interiors are more contemporary in spirit, but far from chilly; mid-toned oak plank runs throughout the shared living area, exposed timber in the ceilings for a subtle coffered effect, and a stone fireplace anchoring the living room.

The shared space isn’t open-concept—aside from the expected kitchen-dayroom-family room progression—but its flow is excellent, and there is enough distinction between rooms to give each an individual feel. The kitchen’s a beaut, a refined cottage execution with abundant counter space.

There are four bedrooms and five baths in the home’s 4,137 square feet. The property exterior measures a third of an acre, with excellent privacy landscaping, a large lawn, and a rear patio with plentiful lounge space.
