Kathryn Bigelow—director of The Hurt Locker, Near Dark, and Zero Dark Thirty, among other films—put her Beverly Hills property on the open market once again this month. Bigelow is asking $10.9 million for the home.

The current asking price represents a significant reduction. Bigelow initially listed the place back in the winter of 2018. At that time, she was looking for $12.9 million.

The staunchly modern-style house boasts many familiar design elements and materials common to the style: glass, concrete, plentiful hardwood, an industrial flourish or suggestion of mass production. Overall, it’s a very warm collection of living areas, with space evoked frequently in line and layout.

The library is perhaps the home’s most compelling space; in a few hundred square feet, it evokes the optimism and warmly cerebral spirit of midcentury modern architecture. The exterior living space, however, isn’t far behind, and the romance of its extensive use of stone and its landscaping is the ideal ballast for the modernist geometry and hard surface so strongly expressed in the interiors.

Bigelow has owned the house in 1989, according to public records. She was married to fellow director James Cameron then; presumably the couple purchased it together.
