It’s been nearly three years since we had a look at Walt Disney’s Palm Springs ranch, the so-called ‘Technicolor Dream House’ that was a retreat for Disney, his wife, and family and guests. The home is back on the market this spring, asking $1.1 million.

The last time the home appeared on the market, it was asking $900K. It sold six months later for $865K.

The most recent owner did not initiate any substantive changes to the ranch’s interiors. The 2,443 square-foot four-and-four does display a few dashes of color, though, including a dash of lavender in the main living area, between the kitchen and wet bar.

Bathrooms and bedrooms, too, have been adjusted to taste. The home’s colors had been striking; they are now perhaps brighter, with both cool and warm tones represented, and one bedroom wearing a bit of desert tan.

The midcentury-style layout of the home remains intact. The shared living space offers dining, living and lounging in one area, and most of the bedrooms open to the property exterior and adjacent golf course by way of sliding glass.

The lot is about a quarter acre large. A streetside look reveals desert flora in the foreground, fieldstone, a low-slung roof, and a red double-door entry. In back, the home opens broadly to its patio, where a swimming pool, spa, and a patch of what appears to be hard-won natural lawn.

Built in 1962, the house was under Disney family ownership until 2015. Walt Disney had another, larger property in Palm Springs at one time, but eventually sold it to fund the construction of Disneyland.
