Comedian Russell Brand is in the mood for some L.A. real estate this winter; the British-born actor and stand-up performer picked up this 2,700 square-footer for a little over $3 million. The house was built in the mid-1950s, and is designed with both modern and Spanish architectural elements.

The hacienda is situated in a particularly verdant corner of the Outpost Estates community, and protected by a formidable set of gates. The property begins with a three-bay open-air garage that sports a rustic timber ceiling, foreshadowing the extensive use of natural-toned wood in the interior living spaces.

After a lengthy foyer, the shared living space opens up very nicely. It features terra cotta and plank hardwood floors, plentiful glass, and vaulted ceilings. The living room’s large, arched bay window looks out onto the lush green of the property, and sets of French doors open onto the slate patio. A large kiva fireplace with a dramatic raised hearth is the centerpiece of the room.

The property exterior was surely a major selling point for the English satirist. It’s both intensely private and charmingly overgrown, with a variety of flowers, shrubs, vines and succulents bordering a footpath that ambles through the half acre of grounds.

Brand stars alongside Gal Gadot and Armie Hammer in the upcoming Death on the Nile, a sequel to 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express.
