Spice Girl Mel B Asking $5.9M for L.A. Home, Down From $9M Original Ask

It was eighteen months ago that former Spice Girls member Melanie Brown—Mel B to fans—listed her flashy, somewhat chilly Sunset Strip-area home. ‘Scary Spice’ had purchased the contemporary with former husband Stephen Belafonte for $4.3 million in the summer of 2014, and it hit the open market in March of 2017, after the couple had split. The house saw a significant price cut—from an initial ask of just under $9 million to $7.5 million—in May of this year. Now it’s back at $5.9 million.

The duo revised and overhauled the interiors, giving them a very engineered 21st-century drama. The design vision is cool and insouciant, with LED accent lighting featured prominently in the shared living spaces, a stark marble-surrounded fireplace in the living room, and bleached hardwood floors. Paneling in the shared spaces adds a modicum of warmth, and a little texture.

The house extends to four floors, and features at least four bedrooms. The master suite occupies the fourth floor, and features a terrace, a salon, and separate showers and closets. Amenities include a generously proportioned fitness studio, a home theater, and a large patio with a pool, spa, and outdoor dining area.

Although technically disbanded, the Spice Girls have reformed for occasional return tours. The last was in 2008, although the group has stated that they’re cooking up a 2018 tour, less one spice; Victoria Beckham, a.k.a. ‘Posh Spice,’ will not be participating.
