Positioned to compete with companies like LG, Garmin, and Apple, Fitbit has introduced the Ionic smartwatch. While the watch boasts the usual tech features expected from a smartwatch—tracking sensors and fitness data, most notably—it also includes a number of added features that make it quite unique.

The Ionic expands smartwatch performance: the wearable has the ability to make mobile payments, utilize third-party apps, and even track swimming; the device is waterproof up to 164 feet.

In addition, the new smartwatch boasts integrated GPS, an updated heart rate monitor, and sleep tracking capabilities. Most impressively, the Ionic is able to run continuously on a single charge for more than four days.

Dubbed as the brand’s first smartwatch, the Ionic represents a giant step for a company that has mainly stayed in the fitness tech market, a step which should open up the company to a profitable new consumer base. The Ionic is a hardware that is well-designed, attractive, and priced very competitively.

Interested customers can preorder the Fitbit Ionic for $299.99.
