If you’re thinking about renting a Hollywood Hills retreat for a little while, and your budget can handle a $19.5K/month lease, you may want to check out this home offered by married actors William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman. The duo is putting their sprawling, 1950’s single-floor home on the rental marketplace.

The couple purchased the home in 2013, for $3.8 million, and renovated it extensively, and necessarily. Huffman and Macy have a history of buying neglected houses and renovating them; the couple purchased a similarly underappreciated Spanish in Hancock Park in the late 1990’s, and brought it back to glory.

The Hollywood Hills house offered as a lease is more or less a ranch-style, measuring 4,566 square feet, and containing five bedrooms and six baths. The shell is a fairly bland bit of midcentury residential utilitarianism, but Macy and Huffman’s renovations have brought the interiors a new vibrancy. The home’s lot-size is appealing, as well: it comes in at over an acre, offers considerable privacy, and features a long, tree-lined drive as a preamble.

With a wide-open concept, the common living area is a pleasing expanse of tiered individual spaces, occasionally separated by accent partitions; the sense of scale is impressive, and plenty of glass and indoor-outdoor access lend continuation. Incorporated into the design is a solarium, and the couple had a sauna installed.

The property exterior features almost as intoxicating a sense of expanse, with views of Los Angeles available from the pool/spa and deck.

Macy and Huffman met during their time at the Atlantic Theater Company, a NYC acting co-operative co-founded by David Mamet. The actors have appeared in Mamet’s films, including ‘State and Main’ and ‘The Spanish Prisoner’, as well as numerous other productions, large-screen and small.
