President Trump is quietly marketing his estate in St. Martin. The large island property, which Trump purchased in 2013 for an undisclosed amount somewhere near the $20 million asking price, is being offered for sale with a current asking price of $28 million.

Called Chateau des Palmiers, the massive Plum Bay estate is comprised of three residences: a large villa facing the ocean, with five en suite bedrooms and a two-story master suite; a not quite so large garden villa featuring a guest-house layout, with four bedrooms divided into separate living spaces; and a manager’s or caretaker’s house, with two bedrooms.

The interiors of the main residence are pretty heavy-handed—lots of yellow tones, heavy curtains, tile floors, and ornate light fixtures. The aesthetic is Italian Renaissance, mainly, with a smattering of modern Caribbean tossed in. Hence, you’ve got an open-trussed recessed ceiling accent in one room, and a recessed accent ceiling with fresco and chandelier in another. The occasional contemporary design flourish gives the residence a certain comprehensive quality.

The property is at its best when it takes advantage of its location, though, and it takes advantage of its location often, as you’d expect. Outside dining and lounging areas are occasionally beautiful—although the pool area looks a little too much like a Marriott, an outside dining pavilion sets a pleasantly idyllic atmosphere and, more acutely, private bedroom terraces provide a convincing argument that all the postmodern baroque detailing money can buy can’t trump the natural beauty of the island itself.

The list of amenities? It’s a fairly long one. Bars, tennis court, large fitness center, billiards room, and sophisticated security system with an 8-foot retaining wall as associated hardware top the list.

President Trump’s other real-estate wheelings and dealings this year include his re-listing of his penthouse at Trump Park Ave. That property’s asking price is currently set at $35 million.
