Is the Bejeweled Yacht-Master 40 the End of the Staid Rolex?

Well, probably not. But it is a capricious offering. Flashy, even.

Rolex’s Yacht-Master has been a part of the famous brand’s Oyster Perpetual collection since it was first introduced in 1992. Over the years it has come in different sizes and iterations, always generally conservative. But this example is the first time the Yacht-Master 40 has featured a gemstone edition.

This special Yacht Master comes with an 18k Everose gold dial, and if that isn’t bright enough, try on the rainbow gemstone bezel for size. All of this color plays nicely off of the glossy black dial that boasts Chromalight lume plots for the time.

The fundamentals remain the same, though. Powering the rainbow-bezel Yacht-Master 40 is Rolex’s tried and true automatic caliber 3135 movement that boasts a 330-foot water resistance.

The Yacht-Master comes with a black Oysterflex strap—a rubber patented and developed by Rolex—finished with an 18k Everose gold Oysterlock clasp.
