The 2017 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie was a fitting place for the Piaget Altiplano to celebrate its 60th birthday, with the Swiss watchmaker dedicating most of its offerings at the Geneva show to its Altiplano collection.

The three new Piaget Altiplano with date timepieces offer a recollection of the past with the vintage slim-cased Piagets that became popular in the 1950s and 60’s, featuring the original 9P and 12P caliber movement to power the famed watch.

The new creation is now a more modern and uniform 40mm, but the slim cases are still crafted using only precious metals, which include 18k rose, white, or yellow gold.

Piaget gave Altiplano the same classic dial, with long indexes marking the hours and a double index signaling the 12 o’clock. The dial also boasts the word “Automatic” in cursive, breaking away from Piaget’s modern trend of using all-caps fonts. The date indicator is located at the index on the 9 o’clock.

Powering the new Piaget Altiplanos is the brand’s 1203 caliber, which is much like the aforementioned 12P movement that has of course gotten better with time.

Each of the new Altiplano with date watches will be released in a limited run of 260 pieces, with prices ranging from $25,200 to $26,000.
