It seems as if a new drone is unveiled nearly every day. Now, a Utah-based brand is launching what it claims is the world’s fastest production drone.

Teal is able to zoom at speeds as fast as 85 mph in good conditions, and the lightweight quadcopter can stream 720p video thanks to a powerful onboard computer. The camera doesn’t hang below on a gimbal like many drones, but instead relies on electronic stabilization to film in 4k at 24fps.

However, that does mean it can’t be angled downward. But with the ability to stream directly to a user’s phone, tablet, or headset, that might be forgiven.

Although fast, Teal is too heavy and costly to be considered a true racer. It’s top speed of 85 mph is also only reachable for 10 minutes of flight with a high-performance battery. Photogs can opt for a larger Endurance battery with 20 minutes of flight, but it slows Teal down.

Additional features include the standard GPS that’s able to support Differential and Real Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning and the Nvidia Jetson TX1 onboard computer meant to be an aerial deep learning machine with the ability to process 4k vision in real time.

Set to ship by the end of the year with a price of $1,299, Teal will feature apps for basic flight, live video streaming, geofencing, waypoint navigation, and the like.
