Leonardo DiCaprio Buys Detail-Rich Spanish Eclectic in L.A. for Above-Ask $7.1M

A few weeks ago, actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson found a buyer for his detail-packed 1920s Spanish Eclectic in Los Feliz. The property had been listed—briefly—at $6.995 million early in the spring before moving into pending status. The selling price has been recorded at $7.11 million, a nice little surprise for Ferguson. The buyer was none other than actor Leonardo DiCaprio, an active buyer and seller of Los Angeles residential real estate with a keen eye for cachet. According to The New York Post, he had also purchased a Spanish-style home for his father back in 2018 for $4.9 million.

But this one’s for mom, so it had to be extra special. The celeb-pedigreed property’s former owners include Gwen Stefani and Robert Pattinson.

Inside and out, the 4-bedroom house features riffs a-plenty, even for an eclectic-style home dating from the 1920s. The exterior’s white stucco and red tile roof is nicely linked to the green of the landscaping by way of turquoise accents, including doors, windows and the insets of the harlequin-pattern garage bay doors. Wrought iron, dark-stained hardwood, ornamental arches and lantern sconces and pendants, and extended eaves with exposed tails also contribute to an exterior sketch of this house.

The 4,926 square-footer’s interiors are just as eccentrically busy, and the eyes are seldom without a surprise to delight. The living room is a gem; the space features ornamental wrought iron gates—one set of many in the home—as well as stained glass windows, a double-height ceiling with carved beams, and a Juliet balcony overlook from the upper level.

Other details: a stenciled coffered ceiling in the dining room, casement windows, a master with a private balcony, a stenciled rotunda ceiling in the foyer, and a wood paneled office. Many of the outstanding details are seen in the outdoor living area, though, a series of nook-and-cranny living spaces connected with exterior steps that includes a raised swimming pool with a tiled retaining wall, and a courtyard with a loggia and a hexagonal-tile floor.

DiCaprio’s upcoming projects include Don’t Look Up, with Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Tyler Perry, Ron Perlman, and Chris Evans, and Killers of the Flower Moon, with Robert De Niro.

On the eco-activism and environmental conservation front, DiCaprio recently launched Re:wild. The initiative aims to protect wildlife and bring endangered species back from the brink of extinction.
