Actor and funnyman Tony Hale wasn’t joking when he listed his Los Angeles-area home. It recently sold for $1.56 million.
The traditional two-story has more than one detail to commend it. It dates to 1937, and begins with a nicely composed entry that contrasts brick, black shutters, and a front door painted soft yellow.
From there, the 2,226 square-footer develops as an updated period home, with adequate glass, mid-toned plank hardwood, and a cozy, compartmental layout. The home’s four bedrooms and three baths are supported by a contemporary kitchen, a living room with a brick fireplace, and a small dining room. Classic features include crown moldings and intricate millwork.
The “Arrested Development” and “Veep” star had been renting the place; most recently, it brought in $7,000 a month in income. Hale purchased the Los Feliz neighborhood home more than a decade ago.
The exterior living space is extremely inviting, offering a two-level brick terrace, an expressive pergola, a large fireplace, and a small lawn as fuel for warm-weather gatherings and recreation.
Hale has a starring role in the upcoming feature ‘To the Stars’; the film was directed by ‘Land Ho!’ helmswoman Martha Stephens, and will be in theaters in a few months.
