MLB player Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers has picked up a Malibu home for $5.6 million.

Far from his team’s native Milwaukee, yes, but the outfielder’s new digs are located right on the water and just a hop and a skip from Thousand Oaks, where Yelich went to high school and honed his chops as a heavy hitter.

It’s easy to imagine the contemporary home functioning as a beachside retreat for the Gold Glove-winning player; he can literally step from his property to the sand of Las Flores Beach. The newly constructed oceanfront home spans 2,500 square feet, and holds 3 bedroom and 2.5 baths.

Cleverly designed by custom builder Peregrine Inc., the residence capitalizes on its spectacular ocean views with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and Flintwood sliders. The main gathering space is the double-height, vaulted-ceiling great room, where a wet bar awaits.

The chef’s kitchen and family room share an open-concept design and lovely ocean views. But the standout space might just be the expansive rooftop terrace; decked out with a fire pit and a spa, it’s ideal for entertaining or a few precious hours of solitude.
