Ultimate Toys, the Midwest-based automotive specialist that has developed a full range of Mercedes Sprinter conversion models, announced a new weekender just in time for the Summer Solstice. The new model is called Ultimate Freedom, and with its twelve-foot wheelbase and competitive sticker it is sized and priced perfectly for digital nomads, couples and families looking to hit the road this season.
The model range of Ultimate Toys conversions includes larger vehicles — the Ultimate Limo and Ultimate Coach are examples — as well as more manageable eight-seater conveyances like the Ultimate Cruiser 144, and the Ultimate Voyager, which uses the RAM ProMaster 3500 as a foundation. The latter have until now represented the more trim model options in the lineup.
The new model, the Ultimate Freedom, earns its name. It seats nine but errs on the side of the easily navigable. According to the company, its length is comparable to that of an SUV, making travel in heavy traffic and city parking less stressful. The model measures in at just under twenty feet stem-to-stern.
The Freedom gains overhead volume over an SUV, of course; a ten-foot ceiling gives the cabin the spaciousness and comforting sense of scale common to all Ultimate Toys conversion models. But it also gains luxury overtones; its ceiling is inspired by vintage Maybach design, and is inset with illuminated panels with soft-touch controls for a skylight-like ceiling that opens up the cabin beautifully.
The Ultimate Freedom is also one of the more versatile models in the company’s lineup. As standard, it is configured with captain’s chairs throughout — the two in the middle position swivel — and a rear sofa that features a power conversion feature for a bed. Ultimate Toys has always been pragmatic when it comes to the demands of a daylong or weekend-long trip, and the Ultimate Freedom sequesters a travel toilet neatly away in a convenient cranny. The model sneaks a drawer fridge in as well, and its large rear cargo space is illuminated for easy night-time loading and unloading.
Materials used in the Ultimate Toys line are consistently excellent, and the Ultimate Freedom is of course no exception; the model’s upholstery is leather, and it comes with double needle-stitched accents. The van may be optioned with a custom, hand-rubbed wood package.
Numbering among the additional interior features of the Ultimate Freedom: an overhead 32-inch HDTV monitor, rear speakers, wall-mounted touch-screen controls, tinted side and rear windows, in-dash audio, 2000-watt inverter, Apple TV, wireless internet router, and privacy valances. A back-up camera, fiberglass running board, and shoreline hookup are additional exterior features of the model.
