In the late winter of this year, tennis star Naomi Osaka settled on a new property in Los Angeles. The house, a Cape-inspired Contemporary in Tarzana previously owned by entertainer Nick Lachey, required Osaka to lay out $6.3 million.

In Osaka’s residential outbox, meanwhile, was the home she purchased from Nick Jonas in 2019. The acquisition ran the four-time Grand Slam singles winner a little less than $7 million. She sold it in the final days of August for $8.7 million in an off-market transaction, according to Dirt.

The fully reimagined midcentury modern in Los Angeles is a 3,143 square-footer with three bedrooms and four baths. The exterior architecture features a strong line that rises up from terra firma and becomes an extravagant U-shape over the bulk of the structure, and a mix of glass, timber and concrete.

Inside, the home is Spartan but for broad textural variation and shading. Clerestory windows, plank wall cladding, slatted accents, natural stone and concrete are the design, material and decorative elements at work here. The standout rooms include the master bath—specifically its glass-enclosed freestanding soaking tub—the office, with floor-to-ceiling corner glass that sets a precarious mood as it opens the room to precipitous canyon views, and the massage room.

A patio and a pool with hardwood sun deck in a semi-courtyard design are positioned beyond walls of optional glass, and constitute the primary draw of the property exterior. The .49-acre lot appears to be xeriscaped but for a strip of ornamental lawn positioned between house and pool.
