On the Texas real estate market for a short time this warm season was a 2012-built French-inspired contemporary of 6,068 sq. ft. The property listed in May for $5 million, and sold in about a month, likely at ask or better. It was Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici — of The Bachelor fame — who worked the flip.

The rusticated masonry house sits on a .24-acre lot in University Park. As a sales proposition it begins effortlessly, with an arched front door inset with a diamond-pane leaded glass panel. Herringbone oak floors, a staircase and a parlor are among the options, with an arched hallway leading to the main living area.

The mix of newer and period details juxtaposes a French-style fireplace with a molecular chandelier in the living room; the contrast represents the design sensibility of the home generally. There’s a bit of whitewashed masonry and a barn door in the kitchen and pantry, with beamed ceilings overhead; the master bedroom boasts a groin-vaulted ceiling. In the attic space is a finished guest room with a pair of window seats, as well as a family room with one wall finished in exposed brick.

Outside, a water feature and a small partial courtyard, and a loggia with BBQ overlooking a pool and spa, make the most of the lot size.
