After nearly a decade on and off the market, Paulson & Co. founder John Paulson has definitively passed his condo on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on to a new owner. The hedge fund manager sold the gallery-turned-residential property for $5 million; the resolution would perhaps have been sweeter had Paulson come nearer to his initial $25 million asking price.

The 1910-built building is located in Lenox Hill, and features a limestone exterior and French Classical architecture. A 6,594 sq. ft. duplex, the listing indicates that the condo contains but a single bedroom; a look at the floor plan reveals a present layout that includes abundant gallery and art storage space, as well as a library. The listing suggests a revised floor plan that definitively transforms the property into a residence.

Individual spaces in the condo include a pair of 21-foot by 21-foot rooms. Floors are connected by a winding marble staircase, and custom hardwood runs throughout the home. Exterior living areas include a private garden.

Paulson’s net worth is around $4 billion, according to Forbes.
