Dave Rubin Offering Encino Spread for $6.2M

A contemporary modern in Encino appeared on the open market this autumn with a $6.195 million asking price. The property is currently owned by political commentator Dave Rubin, who bought it last August.

The house is a 2020 build, making Rubin the first owner. The house’s exterior is boxy and somewhat chilly, setting an atmosphere which is not altered significantly by the approach to the interiors.

Sporting glossy stone tile floors, pocketing glass (including corner space), grid lighting and LED backlighting atmospherics — most effectively in the design of the dining room ceiling, a hanging tray rimmed with hardwood — the first level is very slick indeed. Upstairs, wide-plank hardwood floors in a natural finish bring things down to earth a bit with some natural texture and warmth.

Most singular, perhaps, of all the rooms in the shared spaces is the kitchen, where an Asian-inspired treatment of glossy black, lightning quartz and hardwood sets a tenor that is both dramatic and peculiarly serene. The sculpture-like chandelier that illuminates the double waterfall island is somewhat unique, an abstraction to preside over food prep.

Amenities in the home include a shadowy home theater with a small bar, an office with recessed built-in shelving and a pocketing glass partial wall that opens to the outdoor living area, and of course a fairly expansive master suite. In this case, the master is decked out with a linear fireplace, corner pocketing glass that joins the bedroom with the outdoor terrace, a large walk-in closet, and a spacious bath with plentiful natural stone, a dressing area, and a freestanding soaking tub.
