Back in the spring of 2020, pop star Ariana Grande, in a one-two punch, picked up a couple of very different residential properties in Southern California. One of them was an unusual home in Montecito which she purchased from feverish flippers Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, which required an investment of $6.8 million.

The other was a very contemporary modern in the Bird Streets neighborhood. The 11,000 sq. ft. home went to Grande for $13.7 million. Recently, that property changed hands for $14 million.

As for the house, it’s an L.A.-area spec-built beastie packing the usual veneer of high-dollar natural stone and wood, premium amenities, a slickly subdued atmosphere that real estate patter sometimes spins as ‘Zen’; religion is sometimes relegated to marketing euphemism if it’ll help a sale. Abundant glass walls turn indoor into outdoor and enhance the Southern California lifestyle.

The home’s four bedrooms and seven baths include an owner’s suite on the top floor — it is the top floor — and the lifestyle accoutrements include a gym, spa and sauna, and theater.

Grande has sold more than 85 million records worldwide. She has released six studio albums; all have topped the Billboard 200 chart save one, which landed at number two. She is reportedly the most streamed artist ever, having amassed nearly 100 billion streams (yes, billion). She boasts 275 million followers on Instagram, among other eye-popping numbers.
