Porsche Unseen: Vision 916

Porsche Unseen: Vision 916

The Porsche Unseen book that appeared last November has provided an unusually clear window into the company’s design process. This page from the Unseen tome features the Vision 916, a concise racer that recalls a prototype from the 1970s and the first Lohner-Porsche four-wheel drive racer from 1900.

The Vision 916 was created by a design intern, who married its historical referents with a decidedly contemporary drivetrain. The car, had it entered production, would have been an EV powered by four motors, one assigned to each wheel.

The other Unseen models from the Porsche design archives include the Vision 960 Turismo. One of the more beautiful entries from the Unseen book, its body is similar to the Taycan, which it helped bring into existence.
