The Beresford has lodged more than a few high-profile residents over the years. The distinguished Emery Roth-designed classic was completed in the halcyon days before the 1929 crash, and is positioned in an ideal location at Central Park West and 81st.

A recent departure from the building: film producer Bob Weinstein, who listed his duplex in the storied mid-rise back in the late summer of 2017 for $29.5 million, and ultimately sold it for an estimated $26.5 million. And Kimberly Guilfoyle has had her 2,400 sq. ft. three-bedroom apartment in the building for sale at a whisker under $5 million since last November.

Another listing in the Beresford, and a more recent one, comes by way of  hedge fund guru Paul Singer, according to the Wall Street Journal. The Elliott Management founder has put his 7,500 sq. ft. stunner in the building up for sale with a $40 million asking price.

As is the case in the building generally, pre-war and pre-depression opulence is in full flower in the 15-room duplex. Crown moldings, millwork—check out the dining room ceiling—and glossy hardwood are all common features of the apartment. Specialized spaces include the main library—there are two in the unit—and a wine room. The kitchen’s a bona-fide gem, with a barrel ceiling and cherry-finished cabinetry.

The apartment is being offered with staff quarters.

Singer’s net worth is north of $3 billion.
