Back in February of this year, Gene Autry’s winter-defying estate in Palm Springs hit the market with an asking price of $8.25 million. The property sold last month; an offer of seven million dollars delivered the home to a new owner.

The Old Las Palmas community home is a mission-style of 13,461 square feet. It was constructed in 1927. Bordered on all sides by varied desert and tropical flora, the house boasts a grand covered entrance, a bell tower, and a tiled roof. It is designed with a large central courtyard that contains a pool, spa, and extensive living, dining, and lounging area.

Inside, the home is warm and extravagant of style; standout details include stenciled beams, hand-painted tile, and hexagonal terra-cotta tile floors. The home’s living spaces include a shared living area with a glass exterior wall that extends into the roofline.

Accommodations are suite-style, for the most part, with fireplaces, and private balconies and terraces; the master features a sitting room, and a bath with a soaking tub centerpiece.

Autry starred in nearly 100 films from the mid-1930s to the mid-1950s, and hosted The Gene Autry Show from 1950 to 1956. His nickname was The Singing Cowboy. Among his hits are ever-popular tunes Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.
