Mini let us have a look at the 2021 Cooper Mini Countryman this month. What’s new for the breviloquent backcountry ride?

From the front, the upcoming model year’s Countryman looks cleaner and more contemporary overall. The fascia has a more integrated look, and forceful latitudinal lines dominate the grille and bumper. The intakes are worked into the nose with an eye toward a seamless look; the side sills receive the same attention. This is a Countryman that takes the model out of the last decade, and sets it squarely in the fledgling 2020s.

The Countryman’s engine options have not been altered—it receives the same 1.5L three-cylinder producing the same 134 horsepower as last year’s model; a steady Eddie of a commuter and family car. The S receives the same 2L four-cylinder turbo, producing the same 189 horsepower as the outgoing model.

The cabin and onboard tech, of course, has been thoroughly revised and updated. The display and available interior color schemes offer a bit of additional novelty and refresh factor to this very capable and endlessly hip suburban ride.
