Leica’s flagship medium-format digital single lens reflex camera is now available for purchase. The professional-grade system has been in development for several years, and first announced in 2018.
The magnesium-bodied camera’s tech advances include a boost from the S2’s 37.5 megapixels to 64 megapixels. The S-system camera uses Leica’s ProFormat, which conforms to classic medium format aspect ratio while offering shooters a bigger sensor. 15 f-stops, ISO sensitivity to 50,000, and 3 fps continuous shooting are other notable features of the S3.
Leica’s innovative technological features include an electronic leveling aid and a Live-View image for keeping up with changing conditions. The S3 can also be used as a 4K video camera, with 48 kHz-sampled 16-bit—CD quality—digital sound.
The S3 can be used with all S-system lenses and accessories.
