Months after selling a vacant lot in La Quinta, California, for $2 million against a $2.5 million ask, Nike co-founder Phil Knight listed this retreat in the gated resort community for $1.55 million.

The modest contemporary Spanish-style is situated on the 12th fairway of the golf resort’s ‘Mountain Course’; it measures 4,437 square feet, with three bedrooms and three baths across its single floor of living area. Entry is accomplished via a cozy recessed entryway.

The interiors highlight the La Quinta living style: casual and upscale. Limestone tile floors, plenty of glass, and the occasional ornamental arch define the simple, relaxed feel. The open concept great room features a step-down living area, tray ceiling with plank accents, and fireplace. Sliding glass doors open onto the pool and patio.

The master suite is a beaut. It features a fireplace, a large bath with a step-up soaking tub and a block glass panel, and a sliding glass door opening to the outdoor living area.

Knight co-founded Blue Ribbon Sports, the company that would become Nike, in 1964. His net worth is around $35 billion.
