Last month, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi sold the Hollywood-pedigreed property in Beverly Hills they’d listed in March of this year for $17.95 million. The duo picked the place up in September of 2018 for $15 million. DeGeneres and de Rossi accepted an offer of $15.5 million about a week ago, according to public records.

The couple spruced it up a little during their tenure of ownership. The exterior of the 1962-built home hasn’t lost a bit of its Hollywood Regency pomposity, and through a contemporary lens embodies the gilded anxiety of the last gasp of the studio system.

Within, the DeGeneres/de Rossi touch has refined here and there, while leaving hints of that bygone period intact. The French Regency fireplace mantel remains, along with the octagonal living room ceiling in polished hardwood plank. The black marble wet bar in the living room is extremely evocative.

There are five bedrooms in the house, and all of them are en suite; all of them also boast their own private terraces. The master features a fireplace, and its terrace is intended to be a garden hideaway; the master bathroom features a semi-solarium soaking tub alcove. Very cool.

DeGeneres and de Rossi’s real estate maneuvers this summer include the sale of the Carpinteria beach house they picked up in the autumn of 2017 for $18.6 million, and sold in July for $23 million.
