Early 2020 will see Porsche’s plug-in hybrid Cayenne Turbo S in showrooms. That’s good news for buyers who may have been waiting for a more fuel-efficient variation of an energetic sport-SUV that sports the wallop of the V8.

The model comes as a 4-door and a 4-door coupe. Performance numbers are identical, so the body shape will be the deciding factor for customers who elect the model.

With both ICE and electric motors at work, the horsepower rating checks in at 670, with 653 pound-feet of torque available. The siblings can hit 60 MPH in 3.6 seconds on their way to an electronically limited top speed of 183 MPH. All-EV range is adequate for most commutes: the 14.1 kWh battery-powered motor will deliver a whisker under 25 miles before needing a plug in.

Porsche’s Sport Chrono Package comes standard on the upscale rides, along with dynamic chassis control and torque vectoring. 21-inch wheels are also included in the base price.

Which is significant for a daily driver. Prices start at $162K.
