BMW Motorrad recently introduced its highly anticipated new Vision DC Roadster concept.

The luxury automaker’s bike-making division was looking for a way to honor its classic boxer engine while also keeping an eye on current trends, particularly the electric vehicle movement. BMW’s special concept design succeeds in bridging that gap, and moving away from reliance on the old-fashioned internal combustion engine.

The new Vision DC Roadster boasts an electric motor and battery in place of its classic boxer engine. However, the bike’s engineers specially fit the battery to recall the placement and position of a boxer engine, complete with cooling elements projecting like the ribs of a boxer build, to keep the popular riding style and visuals intact.

The new Roadster’s design takes inspiration from the 1923 BMW R32. This classic styling paired with a futuristic flair (and plenty of carbon fiber) results in a sleek, sporty build that’s ready to ride into the next decade.

Details regarding power production and mass-scale bike production are forthcoming.
