Porsche unveiled the 2019 911 Speedster in New York City recently, along with welcome news for those smitten with the design and intent on purchase: the option to add the new Heritage Design package to the nifty ride.

The customized suite is limited to just 1948 examples, and honors the German brand’s 70th anniversary. Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur division kept the design of the special package fairly close to the standard model…with the exception of a few unique additions that conjure the lengthy history of the Speedster name.

First of all, the Heritage Design package features just one paint option, GT Silver Metallic. The flashy track-oriented color is augmented with accents like white arrows on the front bumper and fender, and gumball graphics on the doors and luggage space. The result is a racecar look that charms by hitting just the right note of nostalgia.

What else is included in the package? There are 20-inch center lock Platinum Satin wheels with PCCB brake calipers, among other components. The cabin is beguilingly beautiful: black and cognac, with full bucket seats, leather armrest…and a stick to manipulate that lovely six-speed manual gearbox. Which is the best kind of nostalgia possible behind the wheel of a car.
