Tyra Banks Makes Quick Work of her Pacific Palisades Homes, Taking $8.9M for the Oceanfront Property

It was only at the end of May that Tyra Banks listed this home in Pacific Palisades, but the price must’ve been right, because it’s gone already.

Banks sold the property for $8.9 million, a not-bad end result of investing $7.4 million in the home in 2016. The house had been listed for $9.3 million prior to the sale.

The home dates to the early 1950’s, and is situated on a bluff overlooking the ocean. It features a three-floor design, with five bedrooms and six baths across about 6,100 square feet.

The home has been extensively renovated, and its modern styling has been replaced by a much more contemporary vision. The exterior is dark grey, angular, and moody.

The interiors, however, are blazing with potential, and very open. The home’s entry presents natural-finished hardwood floors, a contemporary-style staircase with industrial-inflected balustrade and wood treads, and a step-down living room.

The floors throughout appear to be original narrow-plank, which acts as pleasing ballast for the geometric preoccupation of the interior architecture. The amount of wood grain on display dates the home considerably, but not necessarily unpleasantly, although some might find the effect effusive. The home’s built-ins and extravagantly ponderous living room fireplace are also remarkable features.

The home’s master suite features a second fireplace—also ponderous—and a glass partial opening onto a private terrace. A summer kitchen, extensive common terrace space, and a fire features help fill out the half acre lot.
