Harvey Weinstein Offloads Cozy West Hollywood Cottage for $1.8M

The Harvey Weinstein real estate fire sale continues.

In order to fund his legal battle, presumably, the former Hollywood mogul has sold several properties over the past few months. The sales represent a crash attempt to cobble together a defense for a very difficult position.

Case in point: this cottage in West Hollywood. All things considered, Weinstein did OK here, selling the cottage for $1.8 million against his 2015 purchase price of $1.6 million.

But the sale comes as a surprise. The home had been offered as a rental this past February, when the ex-CEO of the Weinstein Company was asking $7.5K/month from a prospective tenant. The sale was conducted quietly off-market.

As for the home itself, well, it has a great deal of character and warmth. The kitchen’s a little chilly and pretentious, but salvaged by the nifty fridge, and the illusion of scale pulled off by the slab stone backsplash.

The house stretches to only 1,400 square feet, but makes the most of its space with comfortingly familiar English country-cottage design elements, including cathedral ceilings and a brick-and-tile fireplace. Lest residents drown in a syrup of warmth, cool tones tend to rule the day, giving the house a careful poise. Overall, the pleasant little two-and-two is the picture of circumspect design, with a master suite that is a feat of space-conscious ingenuity.

Weinstein has sold numerous properties in the wake of myriad accusations of sexual harassment and assault, presumably to cover legal expenses. He and designer wife Georgina Chapman are currently separated, pending divorce.
