‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Actress Kate Walsh Switches From Rental to Sale Listing with $4.3M Ask in Encino

After having listed her Encino house for rent in April at $17.5K/month, Kate Walsh has decided to just up and sell the place. The ‘Gray’s Anatomy’ star is asking $4.25 million for the property, which she purchased in the summer of 2013 for $2.725 million, slightly above the property’s ask of $2.695 million.

The ranch-style home dates to 1950, and has been extensively renovated inside and out. Now revised with a sense of understated elegance, the shingled and sided house has been given a Northeastern aesthetic.

Within, the renovation has thoroughly elevated the spaces. The master suite is lovely, with a bedroom that features a fireplace, and a retractable glass wall that opens to a small private terrace, the pool, and the outside lounge. The master bath has been transformed into a spa-like retreat, with slab marble shower and wall accents, a sitting/dressing room, and a soaking tub.

Other pleasant surprises in the home include the kitchen, which is designed in the French style, with a brass-enclosed vent hood over a wide-open stove and prep area, and an island with a butcher-block cap. The family/media room is also charming, with built-ins and a bronze-toned ceiling, as is the living room, with a somewhat imposing brick fireplace surround in raw brass. The dining room also features a retractable glass wall.

The property extends to over an acre. There is a pool, tennis court, sunlounge, and an outdoor living area with a fire feature amid grounds landscaped with an eye to the suburban wild.

Walsh—best known for her crossover role on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Private Practice’—is currently at work on a biopic about FBI agent Mark Felt, the so-called ‘Deep Throat’ who furnished Woodward and Bernstein with clues about the Watergate scandal in the early 1970’s.
