An off-market deal has seen Katy Perry into a new property in Beverly Crest. The pop singer quietly paid just under $18 million for the home, which had been owned by a major developer.

The house dates to the late 1950’s, and has been renovated extensively. Its exterior is a mainly modern take on a traditional.

The property begins with a terrific sense of gradually revealed space: a gated entrance, and a very long driveway. The house’s façade is a little bland, but the interiors feature a library, a formal dining room, and a large living area with fireplace. There are additional fireplaces in the master suite and library. The house measures 5,500 square feet over all, with five bedrooms and 5.5 baths.

The property is private and sylvan, with rolling lawns and subtle landscaping, and a courtyard with a natural centerpiece. An infinity pool and patio looks out across the city. The property borders a nature preserve.

Katy Perry’s latest studio effort is the album ‘Witness,’ which is due for release this June. The singer and songwriter’s 2010 release, ‘Teenage Dream,’ scored five number one hits, a feat which had been previously only accomplished by Michael Jackson and his album ‘Bad.’ Perry is planning a tour to support her album ‘Witness,’ which will begin in September of this year, and include dates in North America through February of next year.
