Burt Bacharach is selling his Solana Beach town home. The songwriter is asking a shadow under $2.2 million for the property. Bacharach purchased the place in 2008 for $750K, and invested considerable time and money conducting extensive renovations to the original design. The construction dates to 2008.
The town home measures a little less than 3,130 square feet, and contains four bedrooms and five baths. It features hardwood floors and kitchen cabinetry, a hardwood staircase with a steel rail and glass baluster, and a nicely proportioned outdoor terrace.
The common living space is executed in a tier design, and has a loft-like feel, with wood pillars, a brick accent wall, and a small staircase with metallic risers. Light fixtures collectively represent quite a varied amalgam of styles, from flush and low profile, to track, to chandelier and pendant. Taken together, there’s a nifty sense of collage.
Bedrooms and baths are nicely designed, with good fixtures and individual color schemes. Tiling is pleasingly different, and tones vary from quite warm to washed-out cool, beach-evocative.
In keeping with Mr. Bacharach’s profession and personal interests, the residence has been custom-wired throughout with a surround-sound audio system. The development features a tennis court, four swimming pools, and a pair of spas.
Bacharach’s association with Hal David made them the Rodgers and Hart of the 1960’s; the duo collaborated on a long string of hits that were covered by jazz and pop artists alike, including Stan Getz and Dionne Warwick. Bacharach has taken home six Grammy awards, and three Oscars.
