After a month on the market, the lovely Spanish style home owned by sitcom super-couple Justin and Barbie Adler has sold, and for considerably more than the asking price. The property had been marketed in early March at $3.85 million; up stepped screenwriter John Hamburg—of ‘Zoolander’ fame—to make the couple a very attractive offer indeed.

The house is very striking; it’s easy to see why a buyer would fall in love. Constructed in the mid-1920’s—smack dab in the middle of the Spanish Revival craze in Los Angeles—it’s filled with period details, and more than a few surprises. The half-circle shaped window progression, centered by a set of French doors and leading from the living room to the patio, is a prime example of unusual and charming details of the residence. Ornamental windows, Southwestern-style fireplaces and an abundance of hand-painted tile accents beguile as well.

The Adlers purchased the Windsor Square home in 2006, for $2.9 million. It measures 3,539 square feet, and contains four bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Although updated, care and respect were taken to preserve the integrity of the home, its spirit, and its historic appeal.

A tiled front walk, turreted entrance of the stucco residence, and a carved threshold lintel enhance the atmosphere from the start, and contrast nicely with more contemporary features such as recessed lighting and stainless kitchen appliances. Terra-cotta tile and brick are used extensively for the property exterior, adding additional warmth.

John Hamburg’s list of film credits includes ‘Safe Men’; his first produced film as a writer and director. He did the triple-threat thing with ‘I Love You, Man,’ a film he wrote, produced, and directed. His credits also include the successful ‘Meet the Parents’ trilogy.

Justin Adler is the creator of the critically acclaimed ‘Life in Pieces’. Barbie Adler’s credits include writing and producing for the hit show ‘Arrested Development’.
