Newbie Horologists Vault Introduce the $50K V1 Wristwatch

We hope the SBA is paying attention to the efforts of Vault, a kindred spirit and watchmaker.

Vault has been in operation since 2013, but it took years of development and testing to produce its first wristwatch model, the V1. The unique creation was certainly worth the wait for lovers of logical, sturdy and intricate designs, as it pays homage to the time lock mechanisms found in bank vaults.

The entire movement in the V1 rotates with the minute hand. Vault calls this “autonomous movement,” and this is the first time such technology has been featured in a luxury watch of this kind.

Powering the V1 is the VO1 automatic movement, which was crafted exclusively for Vault by watchmaking expert Andreas Strehler. The caliber beats at 21,600 bph and offers a 50-hour power reserve.

The movement within the 39mm case is crafted from platinum, steel, titanium, 18k rose gold, or 18k white gold. All V1 variants will feature a black or white rubber strap.

Vault will limit the V1 to only eight examples. The steel and titanium versions come with a $49,500 price tag (converted from Swiss Francs); platinum and gold options may be priced at request.
