Victor Castanera has come up with a new light fixture formed of apparently meticulously suspended spheres and slats. Created for Oblure, the new line has been called Balance.

The Castanera lamp offers an acute sense of structure mixed with a feeling of playfulness. The onlooker can’t help but wonder exactly how everything stays in place. Each element seems in motion, yet is fixed. Balance perfectly lives up to its name not only in its construction, but also in the feelings evoked from having it on display in a room.

Other features include the choice of a marble or metal base that is glossy black or plated brass. The opal glass spheres are handblown and come with replaceable LED light bulbs, and the power cable also comes with a dimmer switch.

Oblure will ask $1,424 for Castanera’s Balance lighting, which is currently available for pre-order and is set to ship in May.
