German tuner Alpina has perfected the science of turning BMWs into bespoke works of art with the third generation of the Buchloe-based shop’s B7.

The supercar is based on BMW’s 750i xDrive. Alpina will only make 400 examples of the B7 for North American consumption.

Alpina has tweaked the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that comes in the 7-Series model to pump out 35 percent more horsepower and 23 percent more torque, meaning the B7 generates 608 hp and 590 pound-feet of torque. The extra power lifts the B7’s top speed to 193 mph, and the customized car can race from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds.

The tuner has also tweaked the rear-axle steering system of the B7 to allow for both better low-speed agility and greater high-speed stability. Alpina also enhanced the electronic dampers and stabilizer bars in the BMW car for the B7 to offer a bigger difference between the comfort and sport settings of the car, creating a softer or stiffer suspension in the vehicle depending on the selected mode.

Alpina’s B7 will start at $137,000, which is $55,500 more than the starting cost of the unaltered 750i xDrive.
