Frankie Muniz has put his Phoenix property on the market. The Hacienda and grounds, located in the desirable Biltmore neighborhood and dubbed ‘Il Segreto’—or, the secret—is listed at $3.5 million.

The house is a 1935 Spanish-style bungalow, with the broad, softly arched portals, stucco walls, and exposed beams of a southwestern home of the period. Much of the house retains this essential warmth and lack of pretension. Even the master suite, with its uniformly modern approach of dual baths, retains the softened contours that have become an oft-imitated motif in more contemporary designs.

The 5,300 square feet of interior space includes guest suites, hand painted flooring, modern kitchen with wrought-iron chandelier, skylights, and dining, living, and lounging areas. A hallway is highlighted with a glass-over-iron arabesque. There is abundant glass to survey the wildly verdant gardens, fountains, and patio areas that surround the home.

The home’s most interesting elements may be exterior ones: the entrance to the home, which is effected over a gently rolling footbridge, through nicely landscaped flora; and the water feature, stone terrace, and vine-covered trellis in the rear, which collectively offer the property’s most acute vision of escape. There is a pool, of course, as well as outdoor kitchen/dining area, mosaic kiva, and guesthouse.

Frankie Muniz landed his first major role in the critical and commercial sitcom success, ‘Malcolm in the Middle,’ playing the title role. While keeping one foot in show business as a character actor, he has also pursued his interests of professional race car driving and rock-and-roll drumming. This is the second Arizona property to be offered by Muniz as of late; some months ago he listed a large home in Scottsdale, asking price $3 million.
