Vitra has come out with a limited-run Twill Edition Release version of the iconic Charles and Ray Eames Lounge Chair to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the popular piece.

This version, made by the Swiss furniture firm, comes upholstered in a black twill fabric from its catalog of offerings, as opposed to the black leather the chair is known for.

The famous Eames Lounge Chair’s black twill fabric is paired with a palisander wood frame. The reddish hue of the wood evokes warmth and comfort.

Vitra’s special edition Eames chair comes with a commemorative label indicating it is an anniversary edition. It also comes with a special “60 Years in Production” certificate.

American designers Ray and Charles Eames dreamt up the chair in 1956, and Vitra first began making the Lounge Chair in 1959. Since then, it has become one of the most copied furniture designs of the last century.

Vitra’s Lounge Chair Twill and the accompanying Ottoman will only be offered from November 2016 through January 2017. The special Twill Edition Release Lounge Chair and Ottoman set comes with a price tag of about $6,000.
