He tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end, Linkin Park DJ and film director Joe Hahn has parted ways with his L.A. estate for $3.5 million.

The single-story, cooly modern, boasting gray-hued accents, custom millwork, and modern fixtures throughout. The formal dining room is elegant with white trimming, which provides visual contrast against black-painted walls, while the large kitchen boasts a center island. There’s also a great room, a living room, and three bonus areas within more than 5,800 square feet of living space. The master retreat, one of five bedrooms and six bathrooms, has a soaking tub, an oversized rain shower, and French doors that open to the grounds.

Ah, the grounds: whoever ended up with this estate will certainly be spending ample time out there. Outdoors, there’s a covered patio, a fire pit, and a unique U-shaped swimming pool with a beach entry. Palo verde and olive trees and formal landscaped lawns complete the acre-plus setting. According to the Multiple Listing Service, Kimberly Shaw of Advantage Realty Group represented both ends of the transaction.

Hahn, who’s 39, is a founding member of the nu metal gods Linkin Park, which has won two Grammy Awards and sold more than 60 million records worldwide. In 2014, he made his directorial film debut with the drama “Mall,” and has done soundtrack work for the “Transformers” films, among others.
